Buckey's isn't some polished corporate restaurant. We're a country tavern with character - loyal regulars, live music, a busy bar, a kitchen that has to keep up, and a team that works hard when the place gets rolling.
We're looking for an Assistant General Manager to help lead the operation through the season, with a strong back-of-house emphasis and a real hands-on presence in the building.
This role is seasonal to start, with the possibility of becoming year-round for the right person.
This is not a desk title. This is a get-in-it, help-run-it, hold-it-together kind of role. We need someone who can help manage shifts, support the kitchen, hold standards, jump in when needed, and help keep Buckey's moving when the pace picks up.
What This Role Looks Like
This role works directly with restaurant leadership to help oversee daily operations, with a particularly strong focus on:
- kitchen coordination
- food flow
- cleanliness and organization
- shift accountability
- staff support
- closing follow-through
- overall execution
You should be comfortable working with both the front and back of house, but especially strong in helping support and steady the BOH side of the operation.
Responsibilities
- help lead day-to-day restaurant operations
- support kitchen communication, execution, and shift flow
- hold staff accountable to standards and follow-through
- help maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness throughout the building
- assist with hiring, training, coaching, and development
- support guest issue resolution professionally and calmly
- assist with cash handling, reporting, and end-of-day procedures
- help make sure shifts are staffed, supported, and running the way they should
- jump in where needed and help keep the operation moving
Who We're Looking For
We want someone who:
- has previous restaurant leadership experience
- is comfortable in a hands-on, fast-moving environment
- understands how the kitchen and floor need to work together
- can lead with urgency, accountability, and professionalism
- is dependable, practical, and not above jumping in
- can help set the tone for a strong shift
- takes pride in keeping standards high without making a show of it
Experience supporting or overseeing back-of-house operations is a strong plus.
