Make a difference supporting a 5th-grade student as a Virtual School Counselor in a flexible, short-term contract role. This unique opportunity is ideal for professionals who are passionate about guiding young learners and providing crucial support during periods of transition.
In this role, you’ll provide 1:1 counseling to a fifth-grade male student who is awaiting an out-of-district placement. Your support will help ensure the student’s well-being in the interim, while you collaborate with families and educational staff. This position is expected to last from a few weeks up to a month, depending on the placement timeline, but may be subject to change.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid school counseling credentials or state certification
- Experience with children in upper elementary grades, particularly in a virtual counseling setting
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexibility to adjust to evolving schedules and student needs
- Ability to provide both direct and indirect counseling services
Role Responsibilities:
- Offer 1 hour per week of direct virtual counseling to the assigned student
- Document and report student progress and communicate effectively with school support teams and guardians
- Coordinate with district personnel regarding the student’s ongoing placement
- Engage in additional indirect counseling tasks as needed, such as consultations or documentation
- Adapt approaches to best suit a remote environment and the student’s unique needs
