SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Worcester Academy seeks to hire an Athletic Trainer Part time to provide daily medical coverage and care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to student-athletes. After School and weekend hours required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES
- Provide daily practice and game day coverage
- Assist in the daily maintenance of the Athletic training rooms
- Work in conjunction with Athletic department staff, Health Office staff, physicians and other medical personnel to coordinate the health care and wellness of student-athletes
- Effectively communicate with the athlete, family, physician and coach regarding an athlete's injury and his/her ability to return to play/practice.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
- Availability to work weekends/holidays
- Availability to travel with teams when necessary
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As required by Director of Athletics
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- BA/BS required - MS preferred
- Candidate must be certified by the NATABOC and be licensed, or be eligible for licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals
- Experience
- Work in interscholastic/intercollegiate setting preferred, not required
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be a flexible, team player
- Must possess good communication skills
- Ability to multi-task important
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment physical with reasonable accommodations available.
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to squat, kneel, lift and bend repetitively and incrementally throughout a scheduled shift
- Ability to navigate a walking campus in all forms of weather conditions.
