Patent Prosecution Paralegal – Boston, MA
We are seeking candidates for a Patent Prosecution Paralegal position with a leading law firm located in Boston, MA. This position will support a high-performing team of patent attorneys specializing in life sciences. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with extensive U.S. and foreign patent prosecution experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The successful candidate will manage a complex patent docket, prepare and file prosecution documents, and provide technical support on sophisticated life sciences innovations.\n

This is a direct hire position that will pay a base salary between $150 – 200K (depending on experience). This position supports a hybrid work model in their Boston office.
Responsibilities:\n

- Prepare, review, and file U.S. and foreign patent prosecution documents with the USPTO and international patent offices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with filing requirements.
- Draft and file patent applications, assignments, declarations, information disclosure statements (IDS), office action responses, and other prosecution-related documents.
- Conduct patent clearance searches using online databases and analyze cited references for potential conflicts.
- Evaluate the underlying technology of inventions and assist with patentability assessments.
- Support patent attorneys with opinion writing, client counseling, and prosecution strategy.
- Maintain and manage a high-volume patent prosecution docket, ensuring all deadlines, filings, and client instructions are tracked and completed on time.
- Prepare and file U.S. and foreign trademark applications, amendments, statements of use, renewals, assignments, and related trademark documents.
- Provide litigation and enforcement support by preparing exhibits, organizing discovery materials, and conducting legal and technical research.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding the status of patent matters and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide technical and administrative support on special projects as needed.
- Accurately record billable time and meet established billing expectations.

Qualifications:\n
- \n
- Bachelor's degree and Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program, or equivalent legal support experience.
- Advanced scientific degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) preferred.
- 4+ years of patent prosecution experience supporting U.S. and foreign patent matters within a law firm or corporate legal environment.
- USPTO registration number is required; previous experience as a registered Patent Agent is strongly preferred.
- Strong scientific background in one or more of the following disciplines: Vaccines, mRNA technology, Biochemistry, Peptide chemistry, Gene therapy, Immunology, Antibody therapeutics
- Experience preparing and filing IDSs, assignments, declarations, office action documents, and other formal USPTO filings.
- Knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution procedures and docket management.
- Experience supporting trademark prosecution is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
