A contract position is available in a therapeutic program designed to provide individualized support to young learners. This unique opportunity is specifically covering a maternity leave within a collaborative environment that pairs a social worker with a special education specialist and is further enhanced with consistent BCBA involvement.

The role allows for engagement in the Therapeutic Learning Classroom (TLC) program where trauma-informed approaches and a robust support network are central to daily practice. The school is eager to arrange interviews quickly and plans for a seamless handover by providing a short period of overlap with the current Special Education Teacher prior to their leave.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Active Massachusetts Special Education (SPED) Licensure required
  • Experience working in elementary special education settings preferred
  • Familiarity or background in trauma-informed educational practices highly valued
  • Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to co-teach and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specially-designed instruction to elementary-age students within a therapeutic classroom
  • Collaborate closely with a school social worker, BCBA, and other staff to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide trauma-sensitive support, ensuring students feel safe, respected, and empowered
  • Utilize data-driven strategies alongside behavioral support professionals to enhance student outcomes
  • Maintain consistent communication with families and team members to support holistic student growth
