Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with hearing needs as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a vibrant educational environment near Adams, MA. This full-time contract opportunity (37.5 hours per week) supports a diverse district-wide caseload, spanning both elementary and secondary levels. You’ll collaborate with paraeducator support and have the option to work on-site or participate virtually through VOCO, providing flexibility for your lifestyle.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Experience or strong interest in working with students with varying degrees of hearing loss, across both elementary and secondary settings
- Ability to adapt lessons and communication methods to meet students’ unique needs
- Strong collaboration skills with general educators, paraprofessionals, and support personnel
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities with students, staff, and families
- Experience with remote teaching or willingness to implement VOCO is welcomed
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver both direct instruction and consultative services district-wide for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Work closely with para support staff to maximize learning outcomes
- Provide training and support for colleagues regarding best practices for deaf/hard of hearing inclusion
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom and school environment
