Are you looking for a meaningful career where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will empower individuals with developmental disabilities or acquired brain injuries to live fulfilling, independent lives. Working directly in their homes and local communities, you will provide personalized care, foster life skills, and help them stay safely connected to the world around them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Life Skills Mentorship: Coach individuals in cooking, nutrition, money management, communication, household chores, and personal hygiene.
  • Community Integration: Provide transportation and active support for social outings, appointments, and recreational activities.
  • Goal Achievement: Help individuals reach the personal milestones outlined in their service agreements and behavior plans.
  • Health & Safety: Administer medications (after completing our provided certification) and closely follow individual safety protocols.
  • Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate daily notes, medication logs, and incident reports while keeping the Program Manager updated on any health or well-being changes.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred, but a compassionate attitude and willingness to learn are most important!
  • Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
    • Auto insurance coverage of 100k/300k (mileage is reimbursed for work travel).
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (or more with assistive devices).
  • Training: Ability to complete all agency-assigned trainings (including Medication Certification and Safety Care training) within the first 90 days of hire (paid training provided).

Working Conditions

  • Essential Employee Status: DSPs are vital, frontline workers who provide consistent care in both home and community settings.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Shifts vary and include days, evenings, overnights, and weekends. We work with you to find a schedule that fits your life while accommodating the needs of those we serve.

Pre-employment Background Check Requirements: Criminal records, motor vehicle record, Bureau of Adult and Aging Services (BAAS), Division of Child, Youth and Families (DCYF), Office of Inspector General (OIG)
