Jump into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in an elementary school setting near Holyoke, MA! This full-time contract position is perfect for a paraprofessional passionate about making a positive impact. With an ASAP start date, you'll have the chance to work 30+ hours per week in either a classroom or 1:1 setting.
You'll play a vital role in assisting students and teachers, helping create an inclusive, structured learning environment. Your support will be especially needed in both inclusion and intensive autism classrooms, providing care and guidance that makes a real difference each day.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or working with elementary-aged children in school settings
- Comfort supporting students in inclusion as well as intensive needs (autism) classrooms
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, staff, and parents
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive, student-centered attitude
- Ability to handle varied student needs and remain calm in dynamic situations
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Paraprofessional certification or relevant coursework is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom and/or 1:1 support to students, adapting to their individual needs
- Assist the teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom routines
- Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
- Encourage student independence while offering guidance and supervision
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful environment
- Collaborate with educational staff to address student goals and progress
