Job Description

Job DescriptionSalary:

We are looking for a General Superintendentto join our team. The General Superintendent is responsible for supervising and mentoring the field personnel (Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents) and overseeing the field planning and performance of each project. This position will be responsible for the projects assigned to the Keene and Manchester, New Hampshire, and Portland, Maine Offices.

Essential Functions:

Business Development:

  • Assist with developing schedules and logistics plans for Business Development proposals.

Preconstruction:

  • Assist in the development of self perform work plans
  • Assist in the development of logistics plans, phasing plans, and safety plans
  • Assist in project risk assessments and constructability reviews
  • Assist in subcontractor de-scoping process, interviews, and selections
  • Assist in project team assignments for future projects

General:

  • Ensure sites are being kept in an organized, clean, safe, and professional manner
  • Ensure there is a reasonable level of DEW Signage at sites for marketing
  • Conduct Superintendent Meetings every other month
  • Assist Superintendents in problem-solving and risk management during construction
  • Supervise projects during Superintendent vacations
  • Report the status of projects to management regularly
  • Superintendent interviewing and hiring with VP of Operations
  • Field workforce interviewing and hiring with Field Operations Manager
  • Assist in mentoring and retaining field personnel
  • Participate in performance evaluations of field personnel

Project Turnover Process:

  • Attend the Project Planning Meetings
  • Attend the Safety and Manpower Planning Meetings

Schedule Management:

  • Oversee the performance of the construction schedules
  • Ensure key milestones are being met and assist in resolving schedule delays
  • Ensure responsible parties are being held accountable for schedule delays and that the project team is proactively acquiring their delay days
  • Challenge the teams and push the schedules
  • Report the status of schedules to senior management weekly for projections

Productivity and Workforce Planning:

  • Participate in assigning field staff to projects
  • Oversee workforce planning and forecasting for projects within this region
  • Ensure Superintendents are developing self-perform work plans to support budget
  • Review current production rates against budgeted production rates and address issues as needed
  • Ensure Superintendents are submitting their daily productivity logs
  • Collaborate with the Superintendents on establishing efficient means and methods for their self perform work scopes and other scopes as needed.

Quality Control:

  • Establish and maintain an on-site quality construction control program Maintain compliance with State, Federal, and Local agencies.
  • Participate in pre-installation meetings and preparation
  • Ensure all documentation of pre-installation, during installation, and post-installation
  • Ensure material conformance with approved submittals, plans, and specifications
  • Zero Punch list should be your objective.


Essential Experience:

  • Extensive supervisory experience in the construction industry
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods and materials, costing, and scheduling
  • First Aid, CPR certified; 30-hour OSHA certified
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Ability to think ahead and plan
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
