Job Description
This role focuses on commercial repair and construction work for retail clients, combining both on-site and shop-based carpentry. You will perform a mix of rough and finish carpentry, millwork, and general construction tasks, including building and repairing fixtures at client locations and in the shop. The position offers the flexibility to either drive directly to project sites or report to the office to pick up a service van, depending on what is most convenient and appropriate for the project.
Responsibilities
- Perform commercial carpentry and repair work for retail and other commercial clients, including both rough and finish carpentry.
- Travel to multiple job sites, either driving directly in your own vehicle or using a company service van when assigned.
- Work both on-site at client locations and in the shop, depending on project requirements.
- Construct, install, repair, and modify fixtures and millwork, including items such as retail displays and built-in components.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete framing, drywall, and related construction tasks.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and project plans to ensure accurate measurements and high-quality workmanship.
- Perform rough carpentry and framing work as needed for commercial repair and construction projects.
- Support general construction activities, including basic plumbing-related tasks and general labor as required for project completion.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, managing time and tasks efficiently across multiple job sites.
- Transport materials, tools, and fixtures between client sites and the shop when work cannot be completed on-site.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients to ensure projects meet quality and schedule expectations.
Essential Skills
- Strong general construction knowledge, particularly in commercial repair and construction environments.
- Proficiency in carpentry, including both rough and finish work.
- Experience with millwork and woodwork, including building and installing fixtures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Experience with framing and drywall work.
- Ability to perform basic plumbing-related tasks as part of general construction and repair work.
- Capability to work independently and manage tasks without constant supervision.
- Comfort with traveling from site to site throughout the workday.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ownership of appropriate personal tools required for carpentry and construction work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in retail or commercial environments, such as building or repairing fixtures for branded locations.
- Experience in general labor supporting construction or carpentry teams.
- Interest in growing into leadership or management roles over time.
- Comfort working in both shop and field settings, adapting to different project types and locations.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
