Provide skilled nursing care to adults with diverse mental health conditions in a dynamic 30-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult psychiatric patients, including managing psychotropic medications and monitoring side effects
- Perform admissions and discharges efficiently while maintaining thorough documentation in EPIC electronic health records
- Operate IV pumps and provide diabetic care as needed
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities when required, overseeing patient care and unit operations
- Utilize the automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell) proficiently
- Collaborate within a patient ratio of 1 RN to 7-8 patients, ensuring individualized attention
- Adhere to Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations, including rights related to restraint, seclusion, legal statuses, and court-ordered medications
- Participate in floating and rotating shifts to maintain continuity of care; shift options include days, evenings, and nights with a rotation schedule that supports work-life balance
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in inpatient adult psychiatric nursing
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Certification in de-escalation techniques
- Proficiency with psychotropic medication management and electronic charting systems (preferably EPIC)
- Knowledge of psychiatric legal and regulatory requirements
