Job #/Schedule:
- 1599 - 3 hours per week, weekdays after school Life Skills Trainer needed for a young girl, approximately 10 years old. Female staff who demonstrates patience with developing a strong working relationship. Assistance with ADL’s and a strong knowledge of positive behavioral supports.
- 1602 - 4-6 hours per week, weekdays after school Skills Trainer needed for a young girl, age 13, with Autism. Experience with communication devices and positive behavioral supports are preferred.
- 1601 - up to 3 hours per week on Fridays Life Skills Trainer needed for a young woman, approximately 19 years old. Female staff who demonstrates patience with developing a strong working relationship. Assistance with ADL’s and familiarity with communication devices required.
The Skills Trainer works in the DESE Program. The role is to assist the individual's participation in normative home and community-based activities. The Skills Trainer works closely with the family in implementing chosen goals and reports directly to the DESE Family Navigator and Family Support Manager.
Job Responsibilities
· Works with individual on set goals and objectives under DESE program
· Completes established documentation for reporting on goals after each shift with individual and follows protocol for submitting this documentation
· Supports individuals in achieving and maintaining personal well-being and safety
· Completes timesheet, obtains family signature for verification of work, and submits according to due date schedule
· Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Supports
· Treats individuals/family with dignity and respect
· Provides transportation as required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as education, psychology, etc. and at least two years of relevant experience in working on skills development with individuals with developmental disabilities.
OR
If bachelor’s degree is in an unrelated field, staff must have a minimum of three years working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
OR
High School Diploma or GED Certificate and at least five years of relevant experience in working on skills development with individuals with developmental disabilities.
