Job Summary

A technology organization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Snowflake Architect/Developer to join its data and analytics team. This role requires deep expertise in Snowflake, cloud data architecture, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with architecture and engineering teams to design and deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions that support business analytics and reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Optimization

  • Monitor and optimize Snowflake performance, including query tuning, resource utilization, and storage management

User & Security Management

  • Manage Snowflake user access, roles, and permissions to ensure data security and compliance with organizational policies

  • Implement and maintain Snowflake security features such as access control, authentication, authorization, encryption, masking, and secure views

Data Integration & Engineering

  • Support and manage data integration processes, including data ingestion, transformation, and extraction

  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data integration tools

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Provide technical support and resolve Snowflake-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and query optimization

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed system documentation, configurations, procedures, and change records

  • Generate and present reports on system performance and usage metrics

Collaboration & Best Practices

  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, BI teams, and other IT stakeholders

  • Stay current with Snowflake best practices and industry trends

  • Recommend and implement platform enhancements, upgrades, and process improvements

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or database development

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, performance tuning, and security

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (minimum)

  • Experience with source control tools (GitHub preferred)

  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)

  • Exposure to or experience with AI tools

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

  • Experience integrating Snowflake with BI and reporting tools is a plus

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Snowflake architecture, features, and capabilities

  • Advanced SQL skills and Snowflake-specific query optimization

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python

  • Strong database design and data modeling experience (including modeling tools)

  • Experience with ETL tools, data pipelines, and data integration solutions

  • Ability to identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and process-oriented thinking skills

  • Experience working in AWS cloud environments

  • Experience with Power BI and other BI/data visualization tools

  • Experience gathering business requirements and aligning technical solutions

  • Experience integrating Snowflake with identity and access management platforms (e.g., Azure IDP) is a plus

  • Familiarity with other RDBMS platforms, cloud data warehouses, and big data technologies is a plus

Preferred Skills

  • Snowflake certification (SnowPro Core or Advanced)

  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools

  • Knowledge of T-SQL, DevOps practices, and scripting
