Job Description

Camp Sewataro is seeking a thoughtful, motivated, and growth-oriented individual to join our Community Support Team as our Community Support Inclusion Counselor.

This role is ideal for students pursuing careers in education, school counseling, social work, psychology, behavior analysis, or youth development who are looking for direct, hands-on experience supporting children in real-time settings.

You will play a vital role in helping campers feel successful, included, and emotionally supported, while also coaching and empowering counselors with practical strategies for behavior management and community building.

You will be actively involved in:

  • Supporting campers through challenging moments
  • Practicing in-the-moment behavior intervention
  • Collaborating with leadership to implement behavior plans
  • Coaching staff on inclusion and group dynamics
  • Documenting observations and tracking progress

Key Responsibilities

  • Support campers experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges
  • Respond in-the-moment to help regulate, process, and problem solve
  • Conduct camper observations and maintain detailed documentation
  • Collaborate with the Community Support Supervisor and Section Supervisors
  • Help counselors build positive, inclusive group cultures
  • Provide tools, games, and strategies that promote safety and belonging
  • Assist with implementing behavior incentive systems and support plans

Ideal Qualifications

  • Rising senior or current 2026 graduate
  • Major in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Development, or related field
  • Internship, field placement, or prior experience working with youth
  • Experience with special needs, behavioral support, or vulnerable populations strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stay calm and responsive in fast-paced environments
  • Interest in creating inclusive, emotionally safe spaces for children

Camp experience is a plus but not required.
