Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and assist with patient intake processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Dentrix.
- Schedule appointments efficiently utilizing dental office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring optimal patient flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle medical billing and collections accurately using HIPAA-compliant procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms, assist dentists during procedures with dental terminology knowledge, and ensure sterilization protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records meticulously, review documentation for accuracy, and update medical and dental records in systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, respond to patient inquiries promptly, and direct calls appropriately.
- Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry, maintaining medical records, and managing office supplies to keep the front desk organized.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all documentation review and data handling activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental clinic or medical office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical coding such as CPT, ICD-9/10 codes.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with health information management software.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification processes, medical billing procedures, ICD coding standards, and Medicare regulations.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience at the front desk.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical administrative support tasks.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
