Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher serving a dedicated mental health and behavior self-contained program at the middle school level. Located close to Portsmouth, NH, this position allows you to make a tangible difference in students’ lives throughout the 2026/27 school year.
This role focuses on providing quality instruction, comprehensive case management, evaluations, and collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. Working with a manageable caseload of around 10-16 students, you’ll help foster educational growth and emotional support in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid New Hampshire Teaching License required
- Background in Special Education with experience supporting students with mental health or behavioral needs preferred
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and coordinate individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong organizational skills to handle evaluations, reports, and documentation
- Commitment to fostering a positive, structured learning space
- Collaborative approach to working with educational specialists, support staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction within a self-contained classroom setting for students with mental health and behavioral needs
- Develop, implement, and update IEPs in partnership with families and team members
- Conduct student evaluations and assessments to monitor progress and adapt strategies accordingly
- Prepare and maintain timely, detailed reports and documentation
- Attend and contribute to case management meetings and required professional development
- Foster social, emotional, and academic growth for every student
This contract begins September 1, 2026, and continues through June 16, 2027, with school hours from 7:30 AM to 2:20 PM and scheduled weekly hours of 32.5-35. Become part of a supportive environment where your skills and expertise are valued.
