Schedule: Seasonal Position
Responsibilities
Farm School Summer Staff Counselors facilitate farm based overnight experience for kids ages 10-16.
Multi-element programs including
-
Farming
-
Adventure, Imagination and Play
-
Sustainability Practices
-
Wild-crafting and other hobbies (eg.) Arts, music, dance mechanics, creative writing, scything, woodworking and more.
Timing of Summer Program Sessions

Five (5) day overnight sessions
-
One (11) day overnight session
Compensation and Benefits

Room and Board - Beautiful meals created by our nourishment team that highlights the abundance of summer. Free laundry, staff bath and shower, staff lounge to rest, restore and cook if you’d like.

Access to Free Veggies, Fruits, Meat and Milk from the Farm.

Weekends Off (you are welcome to stay on the farm or live offsite during your weekend time off).

Highly competitive summer program staff compensation of $5,750 new and $6,750 returning staff.

Qualifications
-
A real love for engaging with and mentoring young people. You enjoy working with kids ages 10-16 and have some experience doing so in a paid position, in your family or in your community.

You enjoy being outside in nature and working on a farm excites you.

You interests and hobbies you want to share with kids and invite them into: film making, reading, writing, arts, music, singing, dancing, table top games, storytelling, improv, running, soccer, basketball, gardening, foraging, woodworking, cooking, baking, mechanics, screen printing, theater, book making etc.

You can show kids compassion, make time to listen, remain patient, firm yet kind while upholding rules/community agreements.

You are reliable and able to independently manage being where you’ve agreed to be and to be on time. You actively communicate and share information with the team. A team that communicates well performs well.
Additional Qualifications that are a plus:

Visual/ Performing Arts, Singing, art, design, carpentry, woodworking and tinkering skills

Experience living working and being part of a culturally diverse community
-
Experiential learning, outdoor education or Waldorf training.
