Our customers shop with us for our grocery selections; our fresh, locally grown produce, our highly regarded bakery and our courteous and helpful staff. We employ customer-driven individuals that are dedicated to enhancing our warm and inviting farm-fresh shopping experience. We are currently hiring an experienced Retail Bakery Manager with daily and weekly responsibilities as they relate to ensuring the highest level of customer service expected by our shoppers.


This position is a hands-on Manager to join our Retail Bakery responsible for general operations and team management. As the Retail Bakery Manager, you will use your proven experience, attention to detail, and team skills to support this department and ensure that our customer service remains of the highest quality and the products, the freshest available.


Schedule & Pay:


Full-time (5-6 days, 50 hours/week). Schedule will be a mix of “opening” 7am - 5pm and “closing” 10am - 7pm schedules on weekdays and weekend days. Holiday periods will require more hours and flexibility in schedule (which is greatly appreciated) to meet business needs and peak sales periods. This position starts at $30/hr commensurate with experience.



Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers by phone or in-person to locate bakery products for purchase. Answer questions and educate customer. Give special attention to taking our custom cake orders and providing accurate detailed information to meet/exceed the customer's expectation.
  • Provide problem-solving/resolution and escalation as needed. Provide positive customer interactions in a friendly and helpful manner at all times
  • Review daily/weekly/seasonal inventory of bakery products with Bakery Production Manager in a coordinated effort.
  • Place orders with assigned vendors – maintaining outstanding working relationships, but also reviewing potential new sources for products.
  • Ensure pricing and accuracy of pricing of products occurs prior to stocking
  • Rotation of product to ensure freshness and expiration code compliance
  • Display planning with Owner and Floor Manager and coordination with other departments
  • Lead staff members, especially in the absence of Retail Bakery Manager, to communicate with staff (by phone, in-person) – clearly understand any changes to their work
  • Ensure rest/meal breaks are taken by staff, keeping in mind those needed to keep customer flow availability (sick calls, coverage, scheduling changes.)
  • Oversee and perform general clean up, organizing of department display/shelf area to maintain neat appearance.
  • Any additional tasks/projects as assigned by Management



Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Bakery Manager in a retail food/bakery setting (e.g. Whole Foods, Wegmans, Independent Bakery, Starbucks) leading staff and responsibility for product.
  • Customer service experience preferably in a retail food/bakery, food service, restaurant setting
  • Takes initiative in determining what needs to be done, understanding and following existing procedures and problem-solving as issues arise
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing personality; positive attitude
  • Reliable/punctual - reliable transportation
  • Excellent communications skills – speaking with vendors, employees and most importantly, customer - answering the phone and in person
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to hold this position.
  • ServSafe Certified (a plus)
  • Must be proficient speaking and reading English; Bilingual (Spanish) helpful but not required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/bending/reaching for periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently lift/move totes or boxes of products (approx. 30-40lb)
