Job Title: Comparative Medicine Trainer Location: Cambridge, MA Type: Contract Compensation: $23-$28.95 Work Model: Onsite – onsite Hours: 40.0

Overview Provide hands-on training in study support techniques in mice and rats, identify training gaps, and coordinate rollout of global training programs while supporting vivarium operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on training in study support techniques in mice and rats, identify training gaps, and coordinate rollout of global training programs while supporting vivarium operations.
  • Comfortably handle mice and rats safely and assess pain and distress in the species.
  • Train technical staff and scientists in procedures such as dosing, bleeding, anesthesia monitoring, etc., coaching trainees with varying levels of experience.
  • Participate in delivering classroom training sessions and attend recurring training meetings.
  • Review and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training modules, and Computer Based Training (CBT) modules.
  • Coordinate global training activities, including scheduling and organizing training sessions.
  • Work alongside other trainers, subject matter experts, IACUC, and veterinarians.
  • Manage training records in the electronic management system, ensure record accuracy, and review records for discrepancies.
  • Support audits and inspections.
  • Manage training colonies and maintain animal and training records.
  • Collaborate with research units to develop new procedures under guidance of global training leadership.

Requirements

  • BS/BA with 2+ years of experience in laboratory animal training and rodents.
  • Knowledge of regulations including The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
  • Strong professional communication skills and adaptable working style.
  • Preferred LATG certification.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry and/or lab animal training is advantageous.
  • Ability to work onsite, lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and wear PPE.
  • Able to adhere to Environmental Health and Safety practices, including PPE such as N-95 or PAPR, and work in a Biosafety Cabinet.
  • Regulatory compliance with company and Local IACUC Guidelines, Corporate Animal Welfare Policy, and AAALAC guidelines.
  • Up to 10% travel required.
