Precision Machining Estimating Engineer & Master Scheduler

Job Description

Job Description Can you turn a print into a reliable promise?

If you excel at building defensible cost estimates, translating engineering intent into routings, and orchestrating materials and capacity so parts ship when promised, this role is for you. You will be the bridge from inquiry to delivery—owning data, timelines, and outcomes.

Imagine This Scenario

A new RFQ lands for a complex part set. You evaluate specs with engineering, assemble a BOM, estimate cycle times, and validate tooling and CNC programs. You confirm lead time using SAP/FastPro, align it with capacity and materials, and communicate a date Sales can count on. As the job runs, you adjust priorities with the Production Scheduler and Production Manager, resolve exceptions, and—after shipment—compare actuals to plan to refine the next quote. That’s a week well done.

Core Responsibilities

  • Estimate with precision: Build and maintain SAP estimates, material masters, BOMs, and routings; update lot sizes, safety stock, and related master data.
  • Close the loop on costs: Review planned vs. actual costs and implement corrective updates.
  • Engage OSPs: Obtain quotes for outside processes for both new and existing work.
  • Plan to capacity: Provide lead times; analyze and confirm sales orders against capacity and materials via SAP/FastPro.
  • Drive execution: Create production orders, review bookings, share critical dates, and prioritize builds with scheduling leadership.
  • Unblock the path: Monitor exception messages and quickly resolve scheduling or production conflicts.
  • Enable production: Coordinate fixtures, tooling, CNC/CMM programs, and process documentation; manage revision changes with updates to drawings, tools, fixtures, and programs.
  • Improve continuously: Follow up on new product processes and lead optimization and cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Be the communicator: Serve Sales on delivery commitments, status, and schedule changes; align suppliers, subcontractors, and internal partners; keep teams informed on materials, schedule shifts, and job progress.
  • Protect compliance: Maintain ISO/AS9100 standards across estimating, planning, and scheduling, including ITAR/EAR‑related activity; support process documentation and manage controlled records in SAP and supporting systems.

Qualifications

  • Must be US citizen.
  • High school diploma required; two‑year degree/certification in machine technology preferred.
  • At least 3 years in manufacturing estimating and planning.
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings per ASME/ISO; GD&T familiarity.
  • Machining knowledge (milling, turning, drilling); bonus if you’ve worked with molybdenum, tantalum, or tungsten.
  • SAP PP/MM preferred; strong general software capability.
  • Understanding of manufacturing MRP fundamentals.
  • Self‑directed, able to prioritize with minimal oversight.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong communication/technical writing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay: $60,000–$85,000 annually, aligned with experience and skill.
  • Medical coverage: 90% employer‑paid with 100% deductible reimbursement
  • Dental and Vision plans
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Company‑paid life and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Additional benefits available
