Community Legal Aid (CLA) is the civil legal aid program serving the low-income and elderly residents of Central and Western Massachusetts. Through CLA's effective advocacy in more than 8,000 cases each year, some of the most vulnerable residents of the region obtain safe and stable housing; fight discrimination in the housing and employment arenas; access unemployment, disability and other benefits to stabilize their income; break free from domestic violence and other abuse and exploitation; and get needed services in school. In addition, CLA's wholly-owned subsidiary, the Central West Justice Center (CWJC), specializes in cases involving humanitarian-based immigration relief.
Community Legal Aid and Affiliate accepts law student during the academic year (fall and spring semester), but primarily accepts interns for our summer internship program. Academic year interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, to be arranged according to their class schedule. Summer interns work full-time (35 hours a week) for 10 weeks and also participate in weekly learning sessions that introduce the different types of legal aid work at the organization. 
 
INTERN REPONSBILITIES:
Law student interns apply to work in one of Community Legal Aid and Affiliate's substantive practice areas and will assist our attorneys in representing clients. Specific responsibilities vary by unit but may include:

Job Description
The Deputy Director of Family Child Care(FCC) will oversee the management and business operations of the FCC system for CCAB. In this role, the deputy director will focus on leadership and strategic planning. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Divisional Director to collaborate and ensure sound fiscal management, high quality care for children and positive outcomes for families.

 Top Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Participate in recruiting, hiring, and training for FCC system employees. Provide ongoing supervision and performance feedback, including the annual performance evaluation.</li>
<li>Conduct on-going program evaluation with FCC system managers and others in Catholic Charities to ensure targeted enrollment figures, contract utilization, and contract compliance.</li>
<li>Identify the unique needs of FCC educators and facilitate necessary training, coaching, and professional development opportunities for the educators.</li>
<li>Support FCC system managers with employee relations .</li>
<li>Participate in developing performance plans as needed for the FCC system staff which may include working with the division director and human resources for termination decisions. </li>
<li>Work in partnership with the Divisional Director to set monthly expansion goals for new educators and to develop and implement recruitment and growth plans to sign up new FCC educators.</li>
<li>Recruit and contract with new FCC educators and establish positive long-term working relationships.</li>
<li>Assist FCC homes meet all licensing and subsidy requirements and support ongoing quality improvement.</li>
<li>Outreach to families to enroll in FCC homes; oversee staff responsible for enrollment and billing.</li>
<li>Utilize all social services within Catholic Charities to ensure comprehensive services for clients while expanding a client base throughout the agency.</li>
<li>Serve as a representative of Catholic Charities on local and state issues effecting the needs, issues, and services for the communities we serve.</li>
<li>Participate in the annual budget process.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in education or related field, Master's degree preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum of eight years’ experience working with early care and education care or another human services program. Experience with FCC preferred. </li>
<li>Minimum of four years’ experience supervising others.</li>
<li>Proven knowledge of EEC guidelines, including licensing and subsidy requirements. </li>
<li>Willingness and ability to work with a diverse population.</li>
<li>Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.</li>
<li>A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for local travel to perform and meet the expectations of the position, including travel to FCC homes throughout the region.</li>
<li>Ability to work evening or weekend hours as needed. </li>
</ul>

Qualifications

<li>Customer Relationships: Established network of customer contacts in key industries, including but not limited to Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU), Manufacturing, Medical, finance, healthcare, and professional services. Candidates with experience in MDU, Manufacturing, and Medical sectors will be given preference.</li>
<li>Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of managed IT services, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and emerging AI technologies, with the ability to articulate their value to clients.</li>
