Job DescriptionThe Quality Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the organization’s quality assurance activities to ensure products, services, and internal processes meet established standards of excellence. This role oversees the daily operations of the quality department, supports the development and implementation of quality programs, and ensures reliability testing and continuous improvement initiatives are carried out effectively.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary liaison across departments and with external parties on matters related to the Quality System.
- Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams, including scheduling, assigning work, and following up on results.
- Train, guide, and motivate quality staff to ensure standards, procedures, and inspection requirements are consistently met.
- Develop, implement, and improve quality assurance processes, procedures, sampling systems, and testing methods.
- Support statistical process control efforts and analyze quality and specification data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Review and maintain Quality Plans, Control Plans, and product quality documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
- Participate in corrective and preventative action activities and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and other departments to drive root‑cause solutions.
- Support nonconforming product processes, including disposition, documentation, communication, and follow‑up.
- Coordinate document control and quality records to ensure compliance with Quality System and ISO 9000 requirements.
- Assist in the development of in‑process inspection standards, reliability testing methods, acceptance criteria, and final inspection procedures.
- Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing quality performance and trends.
- Identify potential errors, compliance risks, and areas for continuous quality improvement.
- Recommend revisions to specifications, standards, and procedures as needed to enhance product and process quality.
- Achieve quality assurance objectives by monitoring and enforcing policies, procedures, and Quality Management System requirements.
- Contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and coordinating with Operations and Quality leadership.
- Recruit, select, orient, and help evaluate quality team members as needed.
- Support quality program development and communicate quality strategies, metrics (KPIs), and compliance updates to management.
- Enforce the Quality Management System and support company efforts to maintain certification.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance or quality engineering within a manufacturing or high‑paced technical environment.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience managing people, processes, or technical personnel.
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems required.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical specifications, engineering drawings, and inspection standards.
- Proficiency in data collection, statistical analysis, and the presentation of quality data.
- Experience with quality methodologies such as statistical process control, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with MS Project is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of quality control standards, testing methods, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate across departments.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to motivate a high‑performing team.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time‑management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including root‑cause identification and corrective action development.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven production environment.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks according to company needs.
- Regular on‑site attendance required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment in a production environment.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Periods of desk work involving computer use as well as time spent on the production floor.
