What you’ll do as a Trimmer/Climber at Lewis:
<ul>
<li>Be part of a tight-knit crew working in a team environment </li>
<li>Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties for Lewis Tree Service’s utility customers including pruning treetops and limbs, trimming or removal of at-risk/damaged trees as well as removing broken limbs from wires, roofs, etc. </li>
<li>Climb trees and operate a bucket for trimming and removals in and above the power lines. </li>
<li>Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts. </li>
<li>Remove limbs and brush, cleanup and dispose of debris. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Mixing and apply spray chemicals, preserving desirable vegetation </li>
<li>Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area. Help enforce on-the-job safety practices.</li>
</ul>
What you’ll need:
<ul>
<li>At least one year’s experience working as a Trimmer/Climber, working around utility wires.</li>
<li>Knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for the trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing, as applicable to working close to energized conductors. </li>
<li>Experience in tree climbing, knot tying and PPE </li>
<li>Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.  </li>
<li>Capable of operating two-handed equipment (chain saw, circular saw, etc.) and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances.  </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications as required, such as Local, state and federal licenses</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards</li>
<li>Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests</li>

In this role, as a Tree Climber you will have the opportunity to work outside and visit beautiful properties in their community. The Tree Climber applies expertise in climbing, pruning, and safety to ensure the health and well-being of each client’s landscape.
What a day is like:
Daily focus is working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients. The Tree Care Team is involved in all aspects of pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care. Team members are able to safely operate all equipment and perform the assigned job tasks while also providing excellent service to our clients.
What kind of person are we looking for? Someone with:
<ul>
<li>Experience with proper pruning practices including large shade trees and ornamentals</li>
<li>Ability to identify native and introduced tree and shrub species and have a working knowledge of each species’ characteristics</li>
<li>Ability to climb without spurs</li>
<li>Experience with tree care safety standards</li>
<li>Practical knowledge of chainsaw and equipment operation</li>
<li>Experience with aerial lifts (bucket truck)</li>
<li>Communicate advanced understanding of all safety policies and procedures, including hazard tree identification.</li>
<li>Utilize specialized equipment properly for climbing (ropes, saddle, ladders) along with all associated tools.</li>
<li>Apply knowledge of branch collars, and proper pruning cuts with total competence on chainsaw operations.</li>
</ul>
What is Essential:
<ul>
<li>6 months – 1-year minimum Tree Climbing Experience</li>
<li>The desire to work outdoors </li>
<li>Valid U.S. driver's license to operate company vehicles, CDL A&amp;B a plus or willingness to obtain</li>
<li>Must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S.</li>
</ul>
