Corrosion Technician I – Job Description
Overview
Are you observant, analytical, and energized by hands-on fieldwork? As a Corrosion Technician I, you will develop foundational skills to support corrosion prevention, pipeline integrity, and safe operations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in technical fieldwork, pipeline operations, and corrosion control.
Key Responsibilities
Field Inspections & Testing
- Conduct electrical surveys, atmospheric corrosion inspections, and electrical isolation tests.
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot pipeline corrosion prevention systems, including:

- Cathodic protection systems
- Rectifiers
- Ground beds
- Test stations
- Perform routine facility inspections to ensure equipment reliability and regulatory compliance.
Pipeline Integrity Support
- Assist in corrosion control methodologies and pipeline integrity procedures.
- Document inspection findings, complete reports, and maintain accurate records.
- Support corrective actions and repairs as needed.
Operational Support
- Work closely with pipeline/plant personnel, field technicians, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Participate in standby, on-call rotations, overtime, and occasional overnight travel.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must reside within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.
- Ability to perform physically demanding activities in outdoor environments and all weather conditions.

- Weekends
- On-call rotations
- Overnight travel when required
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience as a technician or relevant fieldwork.
- Proficiency with standard office software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong mechanical/technical aptitude and analytical skills.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Working knowledge of pipeline facility operations.
- NACE certification in corrosion control is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform tasks including, but not limited to:
- Bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, kneeling
- Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching overhead
- Repetitive motions, standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods
- Visual capabilities to read fine print, see color codes, and navigate equipment
- Hearing requirements sufficient for communication and monitoring alarms/equipment
Mental Requirements
Must be able to:
- Understand and execute oral and written instructions
- Solve routine to moderately complex problems
- Prioritize daily work tasks
- Make decisions that impact immediate work responsibilities
- Complete routine documentation, forms, and basic reports
- Communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person
