The Assistant Operator supports daily manufacturing operations by learning and performing core production tasks alongside an experienced team. In this role, you receive continuous training to build your skills in machine operation, material handling, and quality checks while working on a fast-paced production line. You collaborate closely with a small group of seasoned operators to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality output on 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and move raw materials to and from the production line to ensure a steady flow of supplies.
  • Collect finished products from the production line and visually inspect them to confirm quality standards.
  • Monitor machine operations to help maintain safe, efficient, and consistent production.
  • Follow work orders and production instructions accurately to complete assigned tasks.
  • Participate in continuous training to develop a strong understanding of the manufacturing process and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively within a group of 34 experienced team members to complete daily manufacturing and assembly tasks.
  • Support general warehouse, utility, and production activities as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe operations.
  • Demonstrate reliability and strong attendance to meet production schedules on 2nd or 3rd shift.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating machinery in a production, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Prior experience working 2nd or 3rd shift and comfort with late or overnight hours.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to follow work orders and production instructions accurately.
  • High school diploma.
  • Basic understanding of machine operation and production workflows.
  • Reliability and consistent attendance to support shift-based operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working off a work order in any type of industrial environment.
  • Background in manufacturing, warehouse, assembly, or general production work.
  • Machine operating experience that can support advancement to higher pay rates and positions.
  • Comfort working with production documentation such as work orders and basic blueprints.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with a small production team.

Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial manufacturing facility with active production lines, machinery, and warehouse operations. You work in small teams of 34 experienced individuals, focusing on machine operation, material handling, and assembly tasks. The role is available on 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m., MondayFriday) and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m., MondayFriday), with shift differentials provided for non-daytime hours. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with established processes, work orders, and equipment to support efficient production. You should be comfortable standing, moving materials, and working around machinery during your shift, following all safety and operational guidelines typical of an industrial setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holyoke, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.92 - $24.33/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
