The Program Manager of Basic Needs Case Management oversees a team of case managers who work with low-income clients within the Jewish community and other diverse backgrounds, connecting them with resources within JF&CS and in the Greater Boston community, and at times, provide direct financial assistance. The clients the program serves may present with a combination of mental health and economic insecurity needs. The Program Manager supervises the case managers, oversees the provision of client services, and provides program oversight to ensure that the services operate in a way that maximizes their impact. The Program Manager is the liaison with some of our collaborating partners, both within JF&CS and in the broader community.

This is a Monday-Friday, full time position. Schedule is hybrid and will include time in our Waltham office and working from home – the details of which will be worked out with one’s supervisor.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is an exciting opportunity to maintain connection with direct client work, while also building leadership and management skills in a supportive environment.

  • Provide supervision for up to five case managers with the potential to supervise social work intern(s).
  • Oversee client intakes by assigning appropriate cases to a case manager, taking case manager caseloads and strengths into consideration.
  • Manage distribution, allocation and tracking of financial assistance funds for direct client assistance.
  • Act as resource, liaison, and consultant for staff across JF&CS and among some partner agencies, which may include JBBBS, Boston Bull Pen, Yad Chessed, JFS Metrowest and JVS.
  • Stay up to date on resources most commonly accessed by clients and serve as resource for case managers to ensure clients are being connected to all appropriate resources.
  • Build relationships with key community organizations and referral sources.
  • Review program processes and procedures to look for possible efficiencies and ensure they are in compliance with agency standards.
  • Support the team in documenting client work and making use client data for learning and program development.
  • Model and promote our commitment to excellent customer service for clients and colleagues.

ABOUT YOU

Ideal candidates for the Program Manager role bring a mix of clinical expertise, common sense, and flexibility. Requirements of the position include:

  • Master’s degree in social work or other related field is required. Licensure preferred but not required. Supervisory and/or program management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals and families who are experiencing economic instability, mental health challenges/psychiatric conditions, and/or a short-term crisis is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of public benefits, including Medicaid, Social Security, subsidized housing, and SNAP.
  • Ability to work and advocate in a collaborative style with diverse ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic groups, as well as diversity based on ability/disability, sexual orientation, and religion.
  • A solution-focused problem solver thinker, taking both logistics and clinical best practices into consideration.
  • A desire to learn from data about the impact of our services and an interest in using data for future planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) and willingness to learn and use technology for documentation and communication.
