NOMAD mobilizes battery storage so power can move with the mission—utilities, data centers, disaster response, and off-grid sites that cannot wait for a substation. As Senior Electrical Engineer you own the electrical architecture that makes our transportable systems safe, interconnectable, and production-ready. Your drawings leave the building. Units get deployed. Lights stay on when the grid cannot.

Performance Objectives

  • Deliver production-ready electrical packages (PCS, switchgear, protection, grounding, and interconnection) within 90 days of spec freeze for each new platform or customer variant.
  • Drive first-pass AHJ and utility approval by owning NEC, IEEE, UL, and interconnection documentation so units ship without redesign loops.
  • Translate customer power problems into validated system configurations with Applications Engineering—duty-cycle models, voltage levels, and protection settings—within 48 hours of a sales request.
  • Cut field electrical issues 30% year-over-year through DFM, FMEA, and closed-loop lessons from live deployments.
  • Specify and qualify inverters, transformers, and protection devices that hit cost, lead-time, and performance targets while remaining field-serviceable.
  • Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers so issues are caught on paper, not on a job site.

Environment & Resources

You report to Engineering leadership in Waterbury, Vermont, working with a tight, early-stage team that already has units in the field. You will use AutoCAD/EPLAN, MATLAB/Simulink, and protection-coordination tools; you will walk production and customer sites in PPE. You have a direct line to Product, Operations, and Sales and influence on what we build next.

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years designing electrical systems for energy storage, generation, or industrial power that actually shipped.
  • PE license (or clear path to obtain) and fluency with three-phase power, medium-voltage, battery systems, inverters, and protection relays.
  • Proven NEC/IEEE/UL compliance for deployed products, including interconnection packages utilities will accept.
  • Ability to work job sites: walk uneven terrain, wear PPE, and troubleshoot live equipment.
  • Clear written communication—drawings, one-lines, and narratives that stand on their own.
