This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a fleet of de-icing trucks, ground support equipment, service vehicles, and other machinery. You diagnose and troubleshoot complex diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure all equipment operates safely and reliably in an airport support environment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, adjust, overhaul, and repair gas and diesel-powered trucks, automobiles, and other power equipment used in ground support operations.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on de-icing trucks, service vehicles, and other machinery and equipment, ensuring they are safe and fully operational.
- Execute preventative maintenance programs on the fleet, service vehicles, and automobiles, including estimating repair costs and planning work efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems, including identifying issues within larger machines and disassembling and repairing hydraulic pumps, motors, and related components.
- Carry out general overhaul, installation, repair, replacement, and adjustment of bearings, ignitions, carburetors, transmissions, differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, fenders, radiators, and front and rear suspension systems.
- Use engine diagnostics, electrical schematics, and blueprints to identify faults and determine effective repair strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including vehicle identification, dates, mileage, and details of inspections, maintenance, lubrication, and repairs.
- Complete all required documentation and reports, including purchase orders and maintenance logs, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required to support reliable operation of all ground support equipment.
- Follow established procedures and instructions while consistently prioritizing health and safety in all tasks.
- Collaborate effectively as a team player and contribute to a positive, safety-focused work environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks or ground support equipment (GSE).
- Strong diesel mechanic skills, including experience with engines and heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics, including disassembly and repair of hydraulic pumps, motors, and related parts.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints for diagnostic and repair work.
- Ground support equipment (GSE) experience, particularly with de-icing trucks and related airport support machinery.
- Journeyman-level training in Heavy Equipment Technical, Automotive, or Agricultural disciplines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC).
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision while following procedures and instructions.
- Commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards in all aspects of the job.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Freightliner, Mercedes, and/or Volvo equipment, including familiarity with Volvo chassis, is an asset.
- Experience using office software and diagnostic tools, along with general computer skills, is an asset.
- Ability to maintain detailed maintenance and repair records accurately and consistently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and perform related duties as required in a busy support environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $87360.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
