Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Hire Type: 6+ month contract (likely longer)
Target Pay Rate: $27.00 - $30.00/hour

Work Schedule: Late 2nd shift, Monday–Friday, 5:00PM-1:30AM; occasional weekends as needed Job Summary:
The Sanitation Group Lead will oversee the sanitation team within a food manufacturing environment and ensure the facility, production lines, and equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and prepared for production. This role will lead, coach, and develop sanitation associates while ensuring compliance with GMP, food safety, OSHA, and company standards. Must Have Skills:
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, or similar industrial environment
- Knowledge of sanitation processes, GMPs, HACCP, FDA regulations, food allergens, and pest control
- Ability to lead, coach, train, schedule, and monitor associates
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Excel or spreadsheet software
- Ability to safely handle chemicals, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in wet/dusty conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and work flexible hours
Job Duties:
- Manage, coach, train, and develop the sanitation team
- Monitor sanitation activities and ensure proper cleaning of facilities and production equipment
- Prepare production lines for timely pre-op inspections
- Maintain sanitation training matrices and verification records
- Write work orders for equipment requiring repair
- Monitor CIP systems, chemical concentrations, and sanitation processes
- Maintain required sanitation documentation and logs
- Assist with troubleshooting and equipment disassembly/reassembly
- Coordinate with production and other departments to support safe and efficient operations
- Monitor production variables including run rates, processing times, and changeovers
- Promote product quality, safety, cost control, and reduction of downtime and waste
- Follow all GMP, food safety, OSHA, and company policies
- Report unsafe conditions, injuries, or harassment appropriately
- Assist other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of sanitation and environmental operations
- SCADA or computerized manufacturing equipment experience preferred
- Knowledge of refrigeration and manufacturing equipment
- Mechanical aptitude, including equipment disassembly/reassembly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a self-directed team
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely work with chemicals
- Must be willing to work occasional weekends and flexible hours
