Budgets Manager
Location: Northampton, MA
Pay Rate: $70,000-$75,000
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9a-5p

Position Description:


The Budgets Manager is responsible for overseeing organizational budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. The Budgets Manager will play a critical role in ensuring fiscal stewardship across programs, grants, and departments, supporting ServiceNets commitment to delivering high-quality human services while maintaining financial sustainability and compliance.

General Responsibilities:

1. Budget Development & Management
   1. Lead the development, coordination, and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets across multiple programs and cost centers.
   2. Prepare multi-year financial projections and scenario analyses aligned with organizational strategy.
   3. Partner with program leadership to develop realistic, complaint, and mission-aligned budgets.
2. Financial Analysis & Reporting
   1. Monitor budget-to-actual performance and investigate variances; prepare clear, actionable variance analyses.
   2. Produce monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports for senior leadership and the Board, as requested.
   3. Support rate modeling and cost allocation methodologies for government and third-party funding
3. Grants & Contract Support
   1. Collaborate with Grants, Contracts, and Program teams to develop budgets for proposals, renewals, and amendments.
   2. Ensure compliance with funder requirements, including allowable costs, reporting standards, and audit readiness.
   3. Assist with fiscal components of site visits, audits, and monitoring reviews.
4. Process Improvement & Controls
   1. Establish and maintain budgeting tools, templates, and internal controls to promote accuracy and consistency.
   2. Identify opportunities to improve budgeting processes, financial transparency, and data usability.
   3. Support financial system enhancements and cross-departmental financial training as needed.
5. Collaboration & Leadership
   1. Serve as a financial advisor to program managers, providing guidance on cost management and financial decision-making.
   2. Supervise budget or finance staff, if applicable, and contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Position Qualifications:
Required:

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in budgeting, financial planning, or financial analysis, including supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience working in a nonprofit, healthcare, or human services environment preferred.
• Maintains strict confidentiality of all organizational and client information and adheres to all applicable federal and state regulations in the performance of job duties.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial management systems.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance.

Preferred:

• Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related discipline.
• Experience with government-funded programs, cost reimbursement contracts, and grant compliance.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and audit processes.
