You arrive to a clean, well-equipped shop and step up to a CNC lathe—Mazak today, Okuma tomorrow—ready to cut parts that will serve air, land, sea, and space missions. You review prints and travelers, set up tooling, dial in offsets, and make the first chips on castings, forgings, plates, bars, and custom work. Between cycles, you refine G- and M-code, adjust feeds and speeds, and verify that every feature meets exacting tolerances. Micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators live in your hands as naturally as the handwheel. What you’ll do

• Set up and operate engine and large CNC lathes to machine diverse components (castings, forgings, plates, bars, and one-off parts).
• Hold tight tolerances on large and complex workpieces; verify dimensions and finishes to spec.
• Program, edit, and optimize lathe operations at the controls to improve accuracy and throughput.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments to ensure quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on machining experience or equivalent technical training.
• 3–5 years setting up both CNC and manual lathes.
• Programming experience preferred (editing and creating programs at the machine).
• Track record of high-quality results in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
