Our organization is in search of a skilled and forward-thinking Chief of Cardiology to guide and manage the provision of cardiovascular care throughout our health system. This high-level leadership position entails strategic, clinical, and operational oversight of all cardiology services within Brockton Hospital and our Medical Group.

The Chief of Cardiology will report directly to the Chief of Medical Specialties and the President of our Medical Group, while also collaborating closely with the Chief Medical Officer, hospital leadership, and the Service Line Director of Medical Specialties.

This role integrates clinical leadership, quality oversight, operational management, and strategic planning to guarantee outstanding cardiovascular care for patients across the system.

Time Commitment:
Approximately 30% of the working hours will be allocated to leadership duties as Chief of Cardiology and Director of Cardiac Catheterization Services, with the remaining time focused on clinical practice.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Operational Leadership

  • Supervise the overall performance of all cardiac care services provided throughout our organization.

  • Direct and manage cardiology services at Brockton Hospital and our Medical Group.

  • Oversee cardiologists (both employed and in private practice) as well as advanced practice providers.

  • Ensure excellence in patient safety, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

  • Manage resource allocation, financial performance, and strategic growth initiatives.

Provider Leadership & Development

  • Offer clinical leadership to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and house staff.

  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of new cardiology providers.

  • Conduct annual professional performance evaluations and oversee credentialing and privileging processes.

  • Encourage a collaborative and supportive physician culture that fosters engagement and retention.

Quality & Safety Oversight

  • Direct cardiology quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to The Joint Commission and regulatory standards.

  • Oversee safety initiatives and patient safety processes within the cardiology department.

  • Collaborate with quality leadership to address patient complaints, risk issues, and performance concerns.

  • Develop and approve policies and procedures that align with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Collaborate with leadership to create and implement strategic growth initiatives for cardiology services.

  • Oversee the efficient use of resources, including non-invasive cardiology testing and cardiac catheterization lab services.

  • Engage in budget planning, financial performance monitoring, and productivity standard development.

  • Support initiatives aimed at enhancing patient access, referral management, and service expansion.

Committee & Leadership Participation

The Chief of Cardiology will lead or take part in:

  • Cardiology Section meetings

  • Medical Specialties Department meetings

  • Cardiac Catheterization Lab Quality Control

  • Executive Quality Improvement Committee

  • Additional leadership committees as needed

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Cardiology

  • Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts

  • Proven clinical leadership experience in cardiology

  • Experience in quality improvement, physician leadership, and healthcare operations

  • Strong dedication to patient safety, teamwork, and high-reliability healthcare systems
