Job Summary:
The Driver Dispatcher Manager for the pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the dispatch and coordination of delivery drivers, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical products and prescription medications. This role also includes managing driver safety, vehicle maintenance, accident reporting, insurance compliance, and licensing requirements to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch and Delivery Coordination:
- Manage the pharmacy driver dispatch team to ensure efficient routing and delivery of medications.
- Assign delivery routes based on priority, driver availability, and patient needs.
- Monitor driver locations and progress to quickly resolve delays or issues.
Driver and Vehicle Safety Management:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols for drivers, especially when handling controlled substances.
- Conduct regular reviews of drivers’ licenses and certifications to ensure validity and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain an updated record of all driver’s licenses, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with local and state laws.
Vehicle Maintenance and Management:
- Coordinate routine maintenance and inspections of delivery

- Schedule regular servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance, working closely with the maintenance team or vendors.
- Monitor vehicle condition reports and address any safety or operational concerns promptly.
Car Registration Renewals
- Manage Vehicle Registration:
Ensure that all delivery vehicles have current and valid registrations in compliance with state and local regulations. - Car Renewal Dates:
Maintain a detailed schedule and system for tracking expiration dates of vehicle registrations to prevent lapses. - Coordinate Renewal Process:
Facilitate timely submission of all necessary paperwork and fees for vehicle registration renewals. This may involve working directly with the DMV or relevant motor vehicle agencies. - Documentation and Compliance:
Keep thorough records of registration documents for all vehicles, ensuring they are readily accessible for audits or inspections. - Communication:
Notify drivers and relevant staff of upcoming registration renewals and any required actions or documentation needed from their side.
Accident and Insurance Handling:
- Serve as the point of contact for reporting and managing any vehicle accidents or incidents involving drivers.
- Ensure all accidents are documented properly, including obtaining necessary reports, driver statements, and photos.
- Collaborate with insurance providers to process claims, manage coverage, and follow up on settlements.
- Investigate accidents to identify causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide training and guidance to drivers on safe driving practices and accident prevention.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all delivery operations comply with pharmacy regulations, insurance policies, and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records related to driver qualifications, vehicle inspections, accident reports, and insurance documentation.
- Prepare regular reports on fleet status, accident history, insurance claims, and driver performance for management review.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Train, mentor, and evaluate dispatch and delivery staff to enhance performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with pharmacy staff, Pharmacy Manager and, and healthcare providers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues.
- Implement process improvements to optimize delivery efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in dispatch or transportation supervision, preferably in healthcare or pharmacy delivery.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, accident reporting, and insurance claim processes.
- Familiarity with driver licensing requirements and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with dispatching software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask and manage urgent issues effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in logistics, transportation, or safety preferred.
