Assistant Production Manager - Metal Fabrication

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Support the Shop Foreman in coordinating daily manufacturing and assembly operations, ensuring smooth workflow across departments
• Manage production scheduling, monitor materials and job progress, and help prevent delays or bottlenecks
• Assist with shop‑floor supervision to uphold quality, safety, and productivity standards while communicating priorities and updates to the team
• Track production metrics, contribute to problem‑solving and continuous‑improvement efforts, and support Lean/5S initiatives
• Help train and cross‑train employees, participate in process improvements, and provide backup leadership when the Foreman is unavailable

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience supporting or leading manufacturing/production operations, ideally in metal fabrication or custom‑product environments
• Strong grasp of production workflow, scheduling, inventory control, and day‑to‑day shop‑floor processes
• Familiar with Lean, 5S, and continuous‑improvement methods to enhance efficiency and flow
• Proficient with ERP/manufacturing software and comfortable using basic data and reporting tools

Salary: $60k - $80k
