Rolloff Driver (Non-CDL), Shop Assistant

Job Description

Job Description

Overview:

DelPrete Home Improvements is seeking a reliable and motivated roll off Truck Driver and Shop Assistant to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and operate dump trailers for the transportation of materials to jobsites and recycling centers, ensuring timely and efficient delivery and disposal. The ideal candidate will have experience driving company trucks and pulling trailers, a strong work ethic, and the ability and willingness to perform manual labor unloading waste. CDL drivers are also encouraged to apply, with pay commensurate with experience.

Basic mechanical skills are a plus for this position. Candidates with mechanical experience may also assist with maintaining our company fleet, including handling routine fuel and oil changes for company vehicles, as well as performing basic maintenance and upkeep on our trailers and roll off cans. The ability to identify minor mechanical issues, keep equipment properly maintained, and help ensure our trucks, trailers, and containers remain safe and ready for use is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver empty dump trailers and roll off containers to jobsites ahead of roofing and other exterior remodeling projects. This may also include delivering job materials as needed.
  • Pick up loaded trailers and containers from jobsites and return them to the shop for sorting and removal of recyclable materials, including plastic, wood, metal, and other materials.
  • Transport roofing waste and shingles to Carney Recycling in Raynham and other approved recycling or disposal facilities.
  • All loads and vehicles for this position are below CDL weight requirements, so a CDL is not required. A valid DOT Medical Card is required, and DelPrete Home Improvements will assist you in obtaining one if needed. CDL drivers are also encouraged to apply, with pay commensurate with experience.
  • Properly secure all loads and ensure trailers, containers, trucks, and materials are transported in accordance with company and DOT safety requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections of trucks, trailers, roll off cans, and related equipment and report or address maintenance issues as needed.
  • Candidates with basic mechanical skills may assist with maintaining our company fleet, including fueling, routine oil changes, and basic maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, trailers, and roll off cans.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment at the shop and jobsites.
  • Operate a small forklift for loading, unloading, and organizing materials. If you do not currently have the required Hoisting License, we will pay for you to obtain one.
  • Maintain an extremely clean, neat, and organized shop, yard, trailers, containers, and work areas.
  • Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels, organizing materials, and ordering or notifying management when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Keep accurate records of dump runs, disposal locations, weights, receipts, and disposal fees.
  • Assist with general equipment maintenance and upkeep around the shop.
  • Depending on experience, assist with basic carpentry work such as building skylight curbs and occasionally assisting roofing crews or other field teams as needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies while operating vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other team members regarding daily schedules, routes, deliveries, pickups, and any problems encountered.

Physical & Customer Service Expectations:

· This is not simply a driving position. There is a significant amount of physical, hands-on work involved. You will regularly unload containers and trailers, sort jobsite debris, separate recyclable materials from waste, move materials and equipment, and help maintain the shop and yard. Candidates must be comfortable performing physical labor throughout the workday.

· You must be exceptionally neat, clean, and organized. Keeping our trucks, trailers, roll off cans, shop, yard, equipment, and recycling areas organized is an important part of this position.

· You will also regularly interact with our customers when delivering or picking up trailers, dumpsters, and materials at their homes. You must be a professional and effective communicator, courteous with homeowners, respectful of their property, and capable of representing DelPrete Home Improvements in a professional manner at all times.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is a must.

• Hoisting License preferred, but not required. We will send you to get one if needed

• Experience in pulling trailers (towable 25’ dump trailers) and related equipment.

• Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects more than 50 pounds

• Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious mindset.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

• Ability to work independently and follow directions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar role or in a shop/warehouse environment.

• Basic mechanical skills for minor trailer maintenance and repairs.

Working Conditions:

• Hours are typically from 7-4 M-F, but may require earlier or later hours or even some weekends

• This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Benefits:

• Health, dental, and vision insurance

• Paid time off

• Retirement plan options

• Opportunities for growth and advancement
