Position Summary
Epsilon is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our day-to-day accounting and financial operations. Reporting to the CFO or Fractional CFO, the Controller will oversee the accounting team, financial reporting, project accounting, billing, cash management, payroll, budgeting, compliance, and accounting systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on financial leader who enjoys working closely with Project Managers and firm leadership and who can help strengthen processes, improve financial visibility, and support the continued growth of the firm.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise the accounting team and daily accounting operations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual results.
- Oversee project accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, project profitability, and billing.
- Partner with Project Managers to resolve billing, collections, and project financial issues.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and reconciliations.
- Develop cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital and liquidity.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning with the CFO.
- Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and government/FAR compliance activities.
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
- Serve as the firm's Deltek Vantagepoint champion, improving reporting, workflows, automation, and system utilization.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 3–5 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, project accounting, and internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for business as needed.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred:
- CPA designation.
- Experience in architecture, engineering, environmental consulting, or other project-based professional services.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision.
- Experience with government contracts and FAR overhead rates.
- Experience with financial dashboards, business intelligence, or accounting automation.

Salary Range
Epsilon’s pay range for the base salary of this position is $110,000-$140,000 USD per year. This salary is commensurate with experience. Epsilon Associates, Inc. reserves the right to pay outside of this range dependent on job-related factors including but not limited to credentials, experience, skill, and geographic location.
