And we're looking for a Formulation Scientist!

About the position:

E Ink is seeking a highly motivated, creative and hands-on scientist to conduct leading-edge materials and process research for novel electrophoretic display technology. The Scientist will be working on formulation development, thin-film characterization, lamination and electrooptical characterization to support new designs and materials introduction into the next generation of ePaper devices. This individual will be based in Billerica, MA, and be part of a highly interdisciplinary team in E Ink’s R&D to enable technical innovations from conception to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable the design and development of liquid formulations for thin film laminates
  • Characterize formulations and thin films via physical and chemical analytical methods (e.g. viscometry, ATR-IR spectroscopy, optical microscopy, peel testing)
  • Provide and seek active feedback to enable data-driven iterative design
  • Enable the development of bench-scale prototypes via thin-film lamination for rapid and iterative formulation screening
  • Characterize prototypes via electrooptical characterization techniques
  • Maintain a rigorous electronic database of formulation and analytical characterization data made widely accessible within the organization

Qualifications

  • B.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering or related fields and 5 years of experience in formulation design, thin-film coating, lamination and characterization
  • Excellent troubleshooting, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed, motivated, and hands-on personality. Ability to work in a fast-paced, open-minded, highly interdisciplinary work environment

Preferences

  • Experience with polymer characterization techniques (viscometry, mechanical testing)
  • Experience with photopolymerization and radiation cured resins
  • Working knowledge of Design of Experiments and statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with basic electrical and/or electronic measurements on thin-film devices

Salary Range Disclosure: The annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000, not including any variable pay. The total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other variable pay components. The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
