We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent patient care, assisting veterinarians with various medical and surgical tasks, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires a strong commitment to animal welfare and high standards of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent patient care by triaging all patients upon check-in and reporting health concerns to the attending veterinarian.
- Administer vaccinations and medications, and provide supportive care to sick or injured animals.
- Assist veterinarians with physical examinations, data entry of medical records, filling prescriptions, and scheduling appointments.
- Read and interpret medical records to collaborate with veterinarians on understanding medical necessities.
- Assist in performing and obtaining diagnostics such as radiographs, blood work, and cultures.
- Prepare and maintain accurate medical records, pharmaceutical logs, and vaccination records.
- Perform surgical-related duties including induction, surgical prep, and monitoring patients under anesthesia and recovery under the supervision of a veterinarian.
- Provide high-quality humane care for all animals using best practices in enrichment, rehabilitation, feeding, housing, and medical care.
- Participate in the euthanasia process.
- Utilize available resources effectively.
Essential Skills
- Certification as a Vet Tech is required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a veterinary assistant or technician.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior, anatomy, and common veterinary practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and humanely.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with veterinary software.

Work Environment
The position offers a schedule of four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with no night or weekend shifts. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
