Position Overview
The pizza cook is responsible for cooking and preparing pizza according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The cook should safely handle knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by location based on requirements and business needs.
Essential Functions, Skills and Knowledge
- Setting up of the pizza station
- Fulfilling food preparations for the day
- Completing weekly cleaning with an attention to detail
- Shutdown of station using the closing checklist
- Ability to perform in a team at a high volume
- Accurately check in produce orders and put away new produce in an organized fashion
- Communicating to managers about product shortages
- Work with the Kitchen Manager to keep the kitchen operations and equipment running smoothly
- Cooks and prepare a variety of pizza according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- Ensure consistency, and execution of orders via ticket times prioritization.
- Safely utilizes a variety of utensils including knives
- Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards customers, co-workers, etc.
- Adheres to Stoked safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager
Requirements:
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a kitchen
- Must be able to obtain food safety certification
- Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Understanding of food safety and allergen protocols
- Ability to follow all standards, policies and processes including though not limited to standards of conduct
- Ability to keep the kitchen clean and organized
- Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
- Ability to work in a kitchen environment that is small and ensure awareness of safety, space and boundaries when working with colleagues

- Ensure kitchen safety protocols are adhered with special attention to with hot objects, chemicals, and knives
- Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Maintain a clean and presentable appearance
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50 pounds
- Maintain a positive attitude
Work Environment
This position operates in a restaurant where food is prepared and cooked. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as cleaning chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with help and/or assistance.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a bar/hospitality position, and as such will require both weekday and weekend/evening hours, as scheduled by management based on the needs of the operation and business.
Travel
This job requires no significant travel to locations other than Stoked Pizza premises and local shops.
