Job Title: Senior Specialist, Trade Compliance – Export
Location: 48 Woerd Avenue, Suite 105, Waltham, MA 02453
Duration: 12 Months
Position Type: Hourly Contract Position (W2 only)
Note:
This is a hybrid role and is expected to be onsite 1–2 days per month (more if needed).
Must be able to meet ITAR eligibility requirements.
Looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of U.S. export control and trade compliance regulations.
Job Summary (Key Points)
- Supports business operations by executing export compliance policies and procedures in alignment with U.S. trade regulations
- Ensures compliance with Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Collaborates with sourcing, engineering, and global teams to assess jurisdiction, export classifications, and country of origin
- Researches, analyzes, and assigns CCL (EAR) and USML (ITAR) classifications for products and materials
- Conducts and maintains Restricted Party Screening (RPS) in accordance with BIS, OFAC, and DDTC requirements
- Applies for and manages export licenses and supports Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings with the U.S. Census Bureau
- Assists in internal and external audits and supports closeout of export and EEI activities
- Maintains required trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
- Develops and maintains trade compliance documentation, work instructions, reports, and KPI metrics
- Manages and updates export, HTS, and classification data within ERP systems
- Analyzes large datasets using Microsoft Excel to support compliance reporting and decision-making
- Periodically supports import compliance activities as needed
Top Skills Required
- Export compliance expertise (EAR, ITAR, CCL, USML)
- Knowledge of DDTC, BIS, OFAC, and U.S. Census Bureau EEI filing requirements
- Trade classification, valuation, and country of origin determination
- Restricted Party Screening (RPS) and regulatory recordkeeping
- Export license application and management
- Strong data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Visual)
- Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian trade regulations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
