Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer – OTS (Off‑the‑Shelf) to join its Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for sourcing standard catalog items, commercially available components, and general hardware used in complex electromechanical medical device systems. The ideal candidate has experience in a regulated environment and thrives in low‑volume, high‑complexity production settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers for OTS categories.
  • Maintain purchasing documentation and support internal/external audits.
  • Perform cost analysis and support make/buy decisions and cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Expedite critical materials to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action activities for supplier‑related issues.
  • Prepare purchasing metrics, cost‑savings reports, and procurement dashboards.
  • Source, quote, negotiate, and issue purchase orders for standard catalog components, general hardware, and commonly available off‑the‑shelf items.
  • Ensure all purchased materials comply with FDA, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews and vendor visits.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production to support prototype builds, manage part obsolescence, and implement ECOs.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cost‑analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Familiarity with low‑volume, high‑complexity manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of FDA QSR (21 CFR 820) and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • 4–6 years of procurement or supply chain experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing.
  • Experience sourcing off‑the‑shelf components, catalog hardware, and standard commercial parts.

Nice‑to‑Have:

  • Experience with SRM tools (SAP Ariba, Coupa, Procurify, etc.)
  • Background in electromechanical or medical device procurement.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and engineering change processes.
