Superior Skilled Trades is hiring a CAD Engineer (Schematic Symbol & Footprint Specialist) for an immediate start!


Pay: $50/hr – $55/hr (DOE)
Job Title: CAD Engineer / PCB Library Specialist
Location: Andover, MA 01810
Schedule: Monday - Friday ; Start Time: 7AM
Job Type: 6+ month contract


We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Engineer with strong experience in schematic symbol creation, PCB footprint design, and electronic component library management. This role is essential in supporting electrical engineering teams by producing accurate, high-quality CAD assets that align with engineering requirements and internal standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, experienced with Cadence tools, and comfortable operating within a fast-paced engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities

CAD Design & Library Development

  • Create schematic symbols and PCB footprints using tools such as Cadence Allegro and System Capture
  • Build accurate footprints by interpreting datasheets, mechanical drawings, and application notes
  • Produce schematic symbols to support electrical engineering development
  • Deliver fully validated footprints and symbols to engineers on schedule
  • Maintain and support Mercury Systems’ librarian revision control system

Documentation & Technical Support

  • Ensure all CAD assets meet internal standards and industry best practices
  • Support the engineering community by troubleshooting library or CAD-related issues
  • Manage part data, revision logs, and library updates
  • Collaborate with engineers across multiple time zones within the U.S. and internationally

Collaboration & Workflow Support

  • Work closely with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and PCB layout teams
  • Communicate effectively regarding library updates, part requests, and design changes
  • Ensure CAD libraries remain accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with current engineering needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Excellent math skills
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Familiarity with electronic component datasheets
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Experience creating schematic symbols and PCB footprints
  • Library management experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment supporting multiple time zones
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cadence Allegro and System Capture
  • Knowledge of Cadence Pulse
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Prior work in high-speed engineering or electronics development environments
