We are currently seeking a qualified 3rd shift Preventative Maintenance Mechanic for a Direct Hire position in Ayer, MA.
This opportunity offers long-term stability and a key role in maintaining critical production equipment.
Job Summary: This direct hire opportunity is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to minimizing equipment and machinery downtime, performing essential maintenance tasks, and working as part of a team to keep operations running smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, machinery, and building systems, ensuring they remain in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Equipment & Building Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on machines, equipment, and the facility. This includes secondary electrical repairs, HVAC maintenance, fixture repairs, painting, and general building upkeep.
- Preventative Maintenance: Carry out machine maintenance tasks such as adjustments, cleaning, lubrication, and inspections to ensure efficient and smooth production line operations.
- Machine Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery malfunctions. Perform necessary repairs to restore machine functionality and maintain production efficiency.
- Assembly & Installation: Assist in assembling and installing new machinery and equipment as required.
- Fabrication & Repair: Operate machine tools to fabricate or repair parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools needed for maintenance activities.
- Inventory & Supply Management: Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding maintenance supplies. Complete order forms and ensure timely submission to avoid inventory shortages.
- Documentation & Compliance: Complete production line checklists at the beginning of each shift and as needed. Maintain proper housekeeping and adhere to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in all work areas.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to OSHA safety regulations and other safety practices at all times.
- Additional Duties: Perform other maintenance-related tasks and duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be mobile and able to navigate throughout the facility.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents and operate equipment safely.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Capable of performing tasks such as climbing, stooping, and kneeling as required for maintenance duties.
- Must have a strong grip for handling tools and objects.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, wet areas, and exposure to fumes or drafts.
Education & Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of electrical or mechanical trade school is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in mechanical repair, preferably in machine maintenance. Will accept a combination of education and experience in lieu of specific experience.
