Position Overview:

The WIC Communication Support Coordinator is responsible for communication and technical support duties to meet the overall needs of the program. Follows all protocols and/or regulations for MA WIC program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Answers and directs phone calls
  • Manages the Tele-task system
  • Triages and corresponds to emails/ EFAX
  • Processes On-line applications
  • Reviews reports to ensure caseload management and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Screens applicant inquiries for eligibility
  • Manage appointment scheduling/rescheduling including reminder phone calls
  • Educate and explain participant’s rights and responsibilities, WIC foods, and using benefits at authorized vendors telephonically
  • Anthropometric and hematological data management
  • Dietary and nutritional risk assessment
  • Provide telephonic or telehealth-based interpreter services as needed by program
  • Food package assignment
  • Provide telephonic counseling and education
  • Data entry needed to support the WIC program
  • Process health and social service referrals
  • Provides telephonic follow-up nutrition education
  • Processes referrals to Mass Health, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Transitional Aid to Families of Dependent Children (TAFDC) programs, and other health and human service programs
  • Manages client notifications for end of certification, missed benefits, and/or ineligibility to receive WIC benefits
  • (Re)issuing of food/formula prescription benefits

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience working within a WIC program, preferably providing all the essential duties of this position
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year's general office experience with proficient computer skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously
  • Experience in health care or community facility preferred
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Compensation:

A salary within the range of $24.51 to $33.17 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with the MOC compensation philosophy.
