At Balance Staffing we’re obsessed with your success! Let us help you achieve your career dreams.

Job Title: In Process Inspector

Type of Role: Temp to Hire

Shift / Hours: 1st Shift

Location: Manchester NH

Hourly Range: $18+ DOE

Role and Responsibilities:
As an In-Process Inspector in the electronics manufacturing industry, you will ensure the quality and reliability of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) by monitoring production in real-time. Unlike final inspectors who check finished goods, you will catch defects early during surface mount (SMT), wave soldering, or hand-assembly stages to minimize costly rework.

    • Visual & Soldering Inspection: Use high-power microscopes to verify solder joint integrity (e.g., fillets, wetting) and component placement against industry standards such as IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
    • Automated Inspection Verification: Perform setup and result verifications for Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and X-ray (AXI) machines to detect defects like shorts, opens, and tombstoning.
    • First Article Inspection (FAI): Review and approve the first unit of a new production run to ensure it strictly meets customer blueprints and the Bill of Materials (BOM).
    • Defect Reporting & Logging: Identify non-conformities, trigger corrective actions via non-conformance reports (NCR), and maintain detailed inspection logs to ensure complete accountability.
    • Rework & Hand Soldering: Perform solder touch-ups and repairs using manual soldering irons, for component removal and replacement.

    Required Technical Skills

    • Industry Standards Proficiency: Expertise in IPC-A-610 (acceptability criteria) and J-STD-001 (soldering requirements).
    • Technical Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and detailed customer specifications.
    • Safety Protocols: Strict adherence to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: Typically requires 1–3 years in a PCBA or electronic assembly environment.
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector are highly preferred.
    • Physical Requirements: Excellent visual acuity (including color and depth perception) and high manual dexterity to handle tiny surface-mount components.

Apply now and one of our recruiters will reach out to you!
