The Role:
Deciphera is seeking an experienced, dynamic commercial leader with in-depth rare disease and oncology marketing experience to lead the commercialization efforts of QINLOCK® (ripretinib). This role will be responsible for all aspects of the brand marketing efforts to drive the success of QINLOCK, including overseeing all stakeholder promotional material development (personal and non-personal) as well non-promotional insight gathering. Additionally, this role will serve as a member of the ripretinib program (lifecycle management) and sarcoma franchise leadership teams.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Sarcoma Marketing, this position will lead Deciphera’s brand strategy and execution for QINLOCK® (ripretinib), an orally administered, potent and highly selective switch-control next general kinase inhibitor, currently approved for the treatment for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST). This is a vital leadership role that will be instrumental in advancing Deciphera’s evolution to a multi-product commercial-stage biopharma company
Job Description
What You’ll Do:
• Develop comprehensive brand strategy and corresponding tactical plans for QINLOCK with cross functional assistance and work with his/her team to execute on aforementioned strategies and tactics to support product’s P&L to ensure short-term and long-term success of the brand
• Operate as a contributing participant within the Sarcoma Leadership Team to help pull through of franchise level vision and strategies and incorporation of these tenets within the QINLOCK brand strategies
• Serve as an active member on the QINLOCK program team and work with Medical Affairs to provide input on studies, publications and in the identification and engagement of KOLs (primarily at Institutional and Community level)
• Develop and manage the marketing operating budget and recommend product positioning, messaging and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long term market share and success for QINLOCK
• Design brand insight tracking plan and analyze metrics to understand the evolving treatment algorithm and patient journey, and
o Based on derived insights:
Ø Monitor brand performance and competitive dynamics
Ø Inform/adjust marketing/brand strategy and address customer needs, and modify plans to ensure highest ROI
Ø Identify a strategic customer engagement plan in a complex marketplace
• Plan and oversee the development of a comprehensive promotional plan including advertising and promotional materials and activities including print, online, and other personal and non-personal promotional efforts for both HCPs and patient audiences
• Align with Market Access colleagues to develop impactful/actionable market access/payer strategy and tactics
• Motivate and inspire commercial field sales team and cross functional partners with a sense of purpose and urgency to pull-through QINLOCK brand strategies and execute approved tactics to ultimately serve the GIST patient community
• Oversee one direct report to ensure commercial success for QINLOCK and provide coaching/mentoring to develop talent pool for the company
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:
· Proactive, results oriented, self-starter motivated by the desire to do the right thing for the patients and their caregivers
· Oncology and/or rare-disease marketing experience required with a demonstrated track record of commercial success in positions with progressive responsibilities
· Bachelor’s degree in a business-related and/or life sciences field required from an accredited school. An MBA or advanced degree preferred
· 7+ years of marketing and related experience in the pharmaceutical or consulting-related industry
· Extensive knowledge of medical, regulatory, legal review process in the US
· Strong people management skills – not only with direct reports but also with cross functional partners and broader organization and outside agencies
· Effective team player and a change agent who further reinforces/enhances Deciphera’s cultural values
· Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability and willingness to work effectively and seamlessly at multiple “altitudes” within the organization. Maintains a “no job is too big or too small” attitude necessary to succeed in a startup environment
