The Assistant Branch Manager provides supervision to direct team members and assists the Branch Manager with any operational, supervision, employee, and member needs of the branch. Primary responsibility is to oversee day-to-day branch operations. Will observe and coach branch team to ensure that all team members are providing member service and relationship development in a professional, efficient, and accurate manner to ensure member satisfaction. Must provide excellent member service and relationship development when engaging members.
Hours and Location: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional Saturdays from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Additional hours may be required to meet business needs.
Location: Essex Junction, VT with some travel to other EastRise branches as needed.
Description:
- Oversees daily branch operations, ensuring consistent service delivery and adherence to member and management expectations. Performs all member service tasks and supervises team scheduling, workflow, and coverage to meet service and quality goals. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, while ensuring compliance with audit and operational standards.
- Accountable for the operational oversight, effective workforce planning, and direct management of team members. Responsibilities include establishing clear performance expectations, delivering ongoing feedback, and supporting the professional development of each direct report through coaching and targeted growth opportunities. Fosters employee engagement to enhance departmental performance and ensures alignment of team efforts with organizational goals. Maintains compliance with the credit union’s policies and procedures. Demonstrates appropriate leadership by modeling integrity, setting a positive example, and cultivating a respectful, inclusive team environment.
- Builds strong member relationships by maintaining expert knowledge of credit union products and services and effectively communicating their benefits. Responds to member inquiries, provides tailored recommendations, and refers members to appropriate team members when needed. Dedicated to delivering exceptional service and consistently exceeding member expectations.
- Facilitates clear and timely communication within the branch by providing updates on systems, workflows, products, and policy changes. Acts as a liaison between members, branch staff, and other departments to ensure collaboration and issue resolution. Handles member concerns effectively across various communication channels to maintain high service standards.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Experience:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
A high school degree or equivalent, A 2-year college degree, specialized course of study, or equivalent work preferred.
Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

COMPETENCIES: Must be at least 18 years of age. Favorable Background, Credit, Criminal, Bondability, and Reference Checks required. (Motor Vehicle check dependent on position.) Physical Requirements:
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private office with minimal noise.
