Burr Hand (Aerospace Manufacturing)
Location: Southwick, MA or Westfield, MA
Shifts Available:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (25% shift differential)
Base pay: $24 - 36 / hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Burr Hand to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This role is responsible for deburring, polishing, and finishing precision-machined aerospace components to meet strict customer and blueprint specifications.
This is a hands-on position in a high-mix, precision machining environment requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate burring and abrasive deburring equipment
- Deburr external and internal aerospace components (including complex internal features)
- Form full radius edges to conform to blueprint specifications
- Blend finishes to meet customer requirements
- Work to fine finishes using borescopes with up to 30x magnification
- Read and interpret work orders, prints, and verbal instructions
- Assist in training other team members as needed
- Identify and address production issues to maintain workflow efficiency
Minimum Qualifications
- Prior deburring experience required (aerospace industry preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
- Experience using:
- 10,000 RPM air guns
- Cutoff wheels
- Handheld motorized grinders
- Belt sanders
- Wire brushes, scrapers, and files
- Ability to perform both external and complex internal deburring
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to meet production rates
Physical & Working Conditions
- Production environment with high noise levels
- Exposure to moving machinery, sharp metal edges, oil, cutting fluids, dust, and fumes
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs
- Must be able to read customer documents with or without corrective lenses
