Join our team as a Transfer Station Attendant and become a vital part of sustainable waste management! Duties
- Operate material handling equipment including loaders, forklifts, and roll-off trucks to move recyclable materials and waste efficiently.
- Manage the collection, sorting, and disposal of recyclable materials while adhering to hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on heavy equipment to ensure mechanical reliability and safety compliance.
- Assist with landfill management activities by monitoring waste placement, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring environmental compliance.
- Facilitate the safe loading and unloading of waste containers using various material handling equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of waste types handled, equipment usage, and safety inspections for reporting purposes.
- Support sanitation efforts by cleaning work areas regularly and ensuring debris is properly contained or disposed of.
Experience
- Previous outdoor work experience in waste management, recycling facilities, or manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, or garbage trucks is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.
- Familiarity with solid waste management practices, landfill operations, and environmental compliance standards is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety regulations including hazard communication, PPE use, and safe material handling procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent safety protocol adherence skills to ensure a secure work environment for all team members.
Must be able to obtain a CDL Class B license and Solid Waste Facility Operator, Step 1 Certification within six months of hiring. A successful candidate must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and a drug and alcohol screening. Weekends required. Pay iscommensurate with experience.
