Automatic/Manual Wire Bonding Process Technician/Engineer

Salary: $28.00 to $38.00 4ourly based on experience.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Automated Wire Bond Process Technician/Engineer will manage, optimize, and sustain our microelectronics assembly production line in Merrimack, NH. This is a 100% on-site, hands-on process role-tailored for a technical expert who possesses deep tactical expertise in high-speed, fully automatic fine wire bonding systems. This position centers on process engineering, program development, and system troubleshooting for our Hesse BJ820 and Hesse BJ855 equipment, ensuring all processes comply with strict military and aerospace hardware standards.


This is a Full-Time, in-office position offering competitive salary, benefits, and growth opportunities.


Responsibilities:

  • Direction: Works under direction and from production schedules, manufacturing procedures, process plans and written or oral instruction.
  • Operate and Programming: Develop, optimize, and maintain automated wire/ribbon bonder (Hesse BJ820 and BJ855) per micro-circuit layout drawings.
  • Attention to Detail: Requires significant attention to detail for production activities and documentation to maintain compliance with MIL-STD 883 requirements
  • Wire Bond: Responsible for proper wire formation, bond appearance and bond strength.
  • Flexibility: to be trained in multiple Microelectronics processes that involve Ribbon, Ball & Wedge wire bonding.
  • Test: Capable of performing bond pull/die shear and report the data.
  • Surface Cleaning: Familiarity of the use of plasma cleaning and other surface preparation for semiconductors and substrates.
  • FOD: Familiarity with FOD prevention and management.
  • ESD: Familiarity with ESD controls.
  • Quality & Yield Optimization: Analyze statistical process control (SPC) data logs to identify defect trends, improve yields, and ensure compliance with AS9100 metrics.
  • Other Duties: Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct, hands-on experience developing programs, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated wire bonder equipment.
  • Hesse Equipment Mastery: Prior competence programming and optimizing Hesse BJ820 and/or Hesse BJ855 bonders is strictly required.
  • Additional Experience related to other automated equipment is a plus. Specifically, Besi Evo 2200 die attach, Mycronic pick and place, Pillarhouse selective solder.
  • Standards Expertise: Strong, demonstrable engineering knowledge of MIL-STD-883 bonding and microelectronics visual inspection criteria.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Due to ITAR compliance and defense contract specifications, US Citizenship is strictly required.
  • Work Configuration: Ability to work 100% on-site in a cleanroom environment at our Merrimack facility. Must adhere to strict ESD and FOD safety regulations.
  • Education: Technical associate degree (Electronics, Mechanical Technology) or equivalent trade school certificate, or military technical background paired with equivalent field experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stationary Position: The ability to remain in a seated or standing position for extended periods, usually at a workstation in an ISO clean room.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, or manipulate small components such as microchips, microscopes, and soldering materials while wearing PPE.
  • Communication: Clear speaking and active listening abilities are essential for productivity, face to face communication, and safety.
  • Vision Requirements: Close vision and ability to adjust focus are needed for inspecting small components utilizing a microscope.
  • Mobility: Occasional walking, bending, or stooping to reach materials while wearing gowns, masks, hairnets, and foot covering.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift, carry, or move objects, typically ranging from up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental Factors: Primarily indoor manufacturing environments, with moderate noise levels.
